1905 St Nicholas with Lantern – Memories of Santa

Russia – Circa 1905

This Russian St. Nicholas sculpture is an adaptation from a Russian chromolithographic postcard postmarked 1905. The postcard shows St. Nicholas on a snowy night standing at the corner of a building in a Russian village blowing his brass horn. He is apparently signaling the village children that he is about to visit them on his annual pilgrimage.
